Daily Zoot- 3/9/09

The Daily Zoot is all the news you needed to know yesterday, soon

-A developing story, the San Diego Chargers have made what is apparently their final offer to Ladanian Tomlinson to restructure his contract. Tomlinson is tied for fourth all-time in total touchdowns behind only Marcus Allen, T.O, Emmitt Smith, and Jerry Rice. Those are GOAT names (Ok, with one plain old goat; more on that later) that LT finds himself among. The Chargers are upset that LT hasn't been able to maintain his incredible Touchdown Rate of two years ago, and he has shown some wear and tear in two subpar seasons. I think San Diego needs to look at LT's career like I look at Steve Martin's; He built up enough credibility in the past that I'm willing to cut him some slack on a few "Pink Panther" seasons.

-Duke and UNC renewed their rivalry yesterday, with the ACC-regular season title at stake. UNC was lifted by alumni Michael Jordan taking in the game from just off court side. Every dead ball the cameras and the rest of the crowd looked immediately at Michael for a thumbs up/thumbs down like he was Joaquin Phoenix. Michael Jordan carries more weight in the Dean Dome than Ralph Friedgen on Jupiter.

-Terrell Owens spent less than a week on the unemployment line as he was plucked up gingerly by the Buffalo Bills on Saturday. Owens teams up with Lee Evans to give Buffalo a dynamite WR combo. Owens also teams up with an inexperienced QB in Trent Edwards to give them an atom bomb in the locker room. Buffalo is a good fit for T.O. because it is a franchise that exists in relative obscurity. He might not be able to get the attention that his ego feeds off. Also, living and working in Buffalo can be an all around humbling experience. T.O. is already figuring out how to say, "Yeah I messed up by forcing my way out of Dallas but I'm never going to admit it; I'm miserable playing in the cold; no one told me about shrinkage." Into a touchdown celebration.
