Weekend update

This weekend flourished with new transactions in many leagues, creating worldwide news. Okay, kind of.

-For starters, T.O. inked a one-year, 6.5 million dollar deal to ensure that the Buffalo Bills will not win a championship. I know I said the Raiders or the Redskins, but who saw this coming? I know they're looking for targets to throw to but I'd rather push for a multi-year contract with an upstanding WR who would be worth the effort in trade/money to sign instead of a hot-head who will stifle the growth of a young QB in Trent Edwards.

-In more boring news, David Beckham is happy with the player loan that keeps him out of a Galaxy uniform until this Summer. This marks the beginning of the end, I feel, for "the ultimate metrosexual" and his stay in L.A. No seriously, the guy who created the word metrosexual claims Beckham is numero uno. At least we can all agree that the prettiest man not worth a $350 million dollar contract will be done with his worst pro performance since "Bend it like Beckham!" released.

-Aside from transactions, news was sparse this weekend. Yes, the USA managed to crush Venezuela but how many times are they going to hit 8 runs in one inning in international play?
Oh and, the Netherlands defeated the Dominican Republic this weekend in WBBC play. Someone check Haans Van DeBeer's locker for 'roids.

-Speaking of steroids, ESPNs OTL did a report by calling 500 people and asking them if they aren't going to go to baseball games because of the recession or because of juice in the game. The overwhelming response? 99% of those polled said Bob Ley and Jeremy Schapp's crank calls 10 minutes before the survey were to blame.

That's all for me sports fans, keep in tune this week for the inevitable media-storm surrounding NCAA hopes and dreams and College Basketball Finals.
